Annnnd that's about it for now even though I want to post more, because I need to get those excerpts out of my LJ-entry box and move on to semi-important matters. So!

In the same vein as burningvigor's recent post, I have made a GreatestJournal (lacidiana, as usual), to keep track of friends and fandom that might move there. ADD ME PLZ. :D I don't plan on moving, but the fact that I back-posted everything from my LJ to my GJ and will from now on mirror my posts to both of them tells you just how peeved the current events have me.

From what I've read, I feel that though the porn-banhammer is a real pisser and that the "artistic-merit" standard is completely subjective and thus completely stupid, what bothers me the most is that they freely used said hammer when the ToS in regards to fanart was still very, very murky, and though they're publicly asking for tips on how to communicate better, their most recent post seemed more staunchly believing that they have done nothing wrong and unapologetic than anything else. (Not going to talk about child pornography stuff here since that's an understandably touchy subject and it seems like that wasn't even the issue in the first place; the porn factor was.) What further bothers me is that in that most recent and most infamous post in lj_biz, the little disclaimer about written works seems to have the same murkiness as the fanart guidelines from last "Strikethrough."

"Written material -- fictional or not –- is also subject to Federal laws. But as we stated in a previous post, over the years we've looked at thousands of reported journals and communities and we rarely have come across a case of creative fiction or fanfic text that warrants review." Looked at critically, half of that statement is an empty recollection to what has happened in the past, not what will happen in the future or what the standards of "warranting review" actually are in regards to written works. Granted, fanfiction is far safer than fanart for the fact that it's easy to glance over a picture and make a quick--if arguable--judgment, while stamping a fanfiction as BAN'D would mean some poor sod on the LJ Abuse team might have to drudge through pages of sap to find flowery euphemisms of "member" and "manhood."

I'll stop now, since there have been plenty of rants on the subject, but my bottom line is this: LJ hasn't yet driven me out, but I--a member of five years, most of the time of which has been paid--will not be renewing my paid account when it runs out in 10 days, and I'll be downgrading to a basic account rather than a supported one when that time does come. I'll be keeping my character journals as supported, but since I block all the ads as is, I don't feel so bad about it. ;)

Still, going to make this one a basic. It's the principle of the matter! The only real issues I see are the lack of poll-making and the lack of userpics, but I can do polls at damned_lounge@LJ with my character journals anyway, and with my loyalty userpics (hurrhurr), I'll have 20 in total.

...Going down to 20 after having 100+ for more months than I can count. God help my spoiled ass. T_T

You see, I got the sixth book on the day it came out a couple years back, and well... I kinda put off reading it for a while. 8D By some confounded MIRACLE, I wasn't spoiled for THAT ONE HUGE INTERNETCRAZE SPOILER until a few months afterwards (COURTESY OF xpotion, WHO I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW AT THE TIME WTF it's okay because I <3 you now), AND BY EVEN MORE MIRACLES, I STILL HAVEN'T BEEN SPOILED FOR ANYTHING ELSE except one pairing thing but.

ANYWAY. MY GOAL? TO READ HARRY POTTER 6 BY SATURDAY. OH YES. I HAVE REACHED NEW TENETS OF PROCRASTINATION.

Also, saw Harry Potter 5 THE MOVIE. It was much, much better than the last movie is all I can say, and though I don't remember enough of the fifth book to really critique the differences, Luna Lovegood was adorable in the movie, and although the actress for Umbridge wasn't really casted all that well (no toadface D:) she acted really well as her KJSFHLKS SHE STILL MADE ME WANT TO KILL PEOPLE.

I HAVE A NEW FAVORITE SHOW, AND IT IS CALLED



Seriously, it's awesome, it's fun, it's thought-provoking, and it's ADDICTIVE. My mom's the one who got me hooked on this one--she watched, like, the entire first season off of On Demand in one night, so I figured I'd give it a shot, and hocrap it's amazing. It's like a mix of premium-channel drama, police procedural, and PSYCHO-KILLER FUN, plus major moral questioning and introspection.

So yeah, I got Court hooked too, and we finished the last episode of Season 1 (the only one out so far) tonight. TWISTS AND TURNS ABOUND. Seriously, the final twist is... CRAZY and totally cool. It also helps that the music is great and the visuals are stellar, and kjdshfkas I should have watched it sooner. (It's weird, because although I saw a bunch of billboard advertisements for it when it first came out, but I was under the impression it was just going to be a normal police procedural that was edgier than usual because it was going to be on Showtime.)

ANYWAY. It's awesome, and I'm really happy to have a new show to watch in place of Rome come next season. (As awesome as House is, it was sad to only have one show to follow every week. D:) SO YAAAY. :DDD WOO.

EDIT: ALSO, notice Dexter has been added to the Requested Characters list at damned. NOTICE. Although I kinda am tempted to read the novels and then try to app for him kasjfhaksf

EDIT-EDIT: ALSO, endless_abyss! (Aka Sabrina, but I thought that'd catch your attention better. XD;) I remember Andrew was asking me if I knew any series similar to Death Note so that you could share them with your DN board? WELL, I have to say, Dexter is the only show I've come across that's anything like Death Note, and it's actually remarkably so. It has the whole "killing for a higher purpose" and questionable morals thing going, as well as the dramatic irony of Dexter being a serial killer and none of his police force co-workers realizing it. (There's even an arc where Dexter's own unit is investigating one of his murders and trying to catch him, and he's trying to throw them off from the inside.) The main difference between Dexter and Light, though, is that Dexter has no choice but to kill and makes the best of it, whereas Light makes a conscious decision, as well as the fact that Dexter refuses to kill innocent people, even if it's to his benefit, unlike our favorite god-complexed teenager.

WOOOOOO!!! Back from Anime Expo 2007, and it was tons of fun! Court and I took a bunch of pictures, but first we need to resize them and make them... not humongous so we can show them to all of you. XD We also bought a ton of doujin, mostly Hughes/Roy. >_>;;;

Aaaanyway, con report comes later, and thanks to everyone who wished a good time to us! :D (Also, saw the second and third Hellsing OVAs, which prompted me to buy the second one (the third isn't out yet) and read all the scanlated manga. WOOOOOOOO. HOLYCRAPAWESOMEANIMATION. And it's absolutely INSANE to see characters like Pip and Maxwell and the Major all animated.)

Man, it seems like a lot of you people on my friends-list are having bad days today. D: So, to all of you, I give a collective HUG!

I'm doing okay myself right now, mostly due to all the excitement about AX, though I am wary of how much money my mom is willing to lend to me, and I'm still really apprehensive about getting a job due to me being insecure and... dumb. XD I should just suck it up and do it already, but nggg. Also, I was posting again at damned, but now I'm falling behind again due to running around for AX and reading/sending apps, and playing Tales of the Abyss, and... yeah, I'm busy in my own weird way. XD;

Anyway, plans for today are to go to the army surplus store and then the thrift shop near my house to look for stuff for Court, and then to end up at my house, where I'll start painting the bronze areas onto my cross. My dad's in Sweden at the moment, however, for a business trip (he basically took over the building of my cross last year. >_>;;) so I hope I can find all the materials I need and not screw up. DX

Man, I'm so bad about remembering birthdays, though. I keep on trying to set LJ to notify me through e-mail when your guys' birthdays are coming up, and I always forget/it doesn't work. =_=; I think I missed elendraug's for that reason even though I was keeping an eye on it. In other news, I stayed up 'till 7 AM this morning playing Flyff and then reading apps (I wanted to get you Gundam people done! ::shakefist::) but since I figured I could sleep in and still have time to do some work for my screenwriting class at 7 PM, I figured I was okay.

....Except not, since my mom woke me up at 10:30 AM for a dentist's appointment at 12 DDDX Had Japanese food from my favorite restaurant after that and then got back home around 2 PM and PASSED OUT until I woke up again around 6:15 PM and it was time to leave for my class. XD;;; I figured "fuck it" and took a shower and got there a fashionable hour late. But whatev. I ain't taking it for a grade, and we were doing fun stuff today anyway.

Also, my paid icons ran out, and though it's tempting to just reupload my very favorites instead of re-buying the extra space (since I have 43 spaces left anyway).... but I know I won't. D: WELL, maybe I will since I'm broke, but... yeah. XDDDD

I'd forgotten how beautiful Wolf's Rain is--visually, musically, and in terms of relationships between the characters.

Seriously, if you haven't seen it, you should. The plot is... yeah, really convoluted and not really sensical, but the characters keep it going strong the whole way. It's also really cool how they present to you characters other than the wolves in the first two episodes who you think are going to fade away over time, but then they end up being developed just as well, if not better, than the main four heroes. Quent, in particular, you think is going to be a one-dimensional "yargh KILL WOLVES" evil character whose only purpose is to chase after the heroes, but over the course of the series, he's developed into one of the most compelling characters of all.

Also, I think maybe Hige from it might be a good prospect for cosplay this year. >_> Simple and sweet. <3

SERIOUSLY, GOD. THAT SERIES IS AMAZING. Except for the plot. >_>; As Jenny succintly put it: "IT TRIES TOO HARD." Not really something whose fandom I'd get into since the characters are so well-developed that I couldn't ask for anything added-on at all, but... yeah. <333

ALSO, TSUME IS SCAR IN... WELL, NOT EVEN IN DISGUISE, REALLY. Even if Tsume actually manages to lighten up after a while.

Also, my neck has been hurting. A lot. T_T Augh.

EDIT: I DOWNLOADED WOLF'S RAIN OST2. (I only had the first one.) Oh my god it is so gorgeous. ;_; So much undying love for this series. "Beautiful" is really the only word that describes it all. <3333

In other news, I BOUGHT POKÉMON DIAMOND. >_>; Yeah, my brother got Pearl for his birthday along with his own DS (he'd already scratched the crap outta the outside of mine by using it so often =_=), so I got its counterpart. (Also because I downloaded a Saphhire ROM and played a little of the beginning I was all "AW MAN I WANNA PLAY A NEW ONE OF THESE") and Court's gonna get PEARL SO WE CAN TRADE OVER THE SUMMER, RIGHT, RIGHT? <3

You know what I think would be fun? To write Pokémon fic now. Yeah. XD Maybe a funny one. AS IF I'M THAT WITTY. Also... I NEED TO GET TO THEM DRABBLEZ.

Also, I think I forgot to mention how I saw Hot Fuzz a couple of weeks ago. Twice. And then downloaded it. AND WATCHED IT AGAIN WITH MY PARENTS.

I think I like it better than Shaun of the Dead, but that's only because I CAN'T WATCH SHAUN OF THE DEAD AGAIN DUE TO IT HAVING ZOMBIES. DDDDX IT PAINS ME.
